Here is something strange I have been pulling my hair our trying to figure
why when I change both my APPO's to the same channel it gets a lot better
signal?

I have both the north sector and south sector set to chan 7 right now and it
works great but when I switch one or the other to separate channels the
signal seems to either interfere or get worse for the clients?

I was going to move the sectors further apart, I cant put them where one is
above the other due to the constraints of the owner of the property...

They are aprox 5 ft apart right now and are 95* pac wireless H pol sectors..
I was going to move them about 20 ft part and face them further away from
each other. I think when we initially did this we put some overlap in
there..

Anyone have any ideas?

The nice thing about the CB3 is that it allows SNMP, Telnet, and Web
interaction. That's a lot more than most. I'm not endorsing setting up an
uncertified system, but there comes a point when you have to try something
in order to keep your customers. We've used some other radios that didn't
have the distance that these radios do, but for those that were able to
connect
to the other radios, they were able to get between 3.0 and 3.9 megabit
unthrottled from our NOC. Since the SB gear has been in place we've been
able to get some very long distances, but the throughput has dropped to
the point that I've not seen anything over 2 megabit.

I fought with a link 4.5 miles away from one of our towers for 3 months. I
was
using an ABO. I changed the radio several times, I tried 4 different
antennas,
I replaced all the cabling, and when I lost the bigger of the three clients
in the
building I gave up. I ordered a CB3 from Eje and the day after it arrived I
set it
up. The link has been rock solid ever since. One customer worth $129.95 a
month could have been saved by a $150 CB3 if I had bought it a month
earlier.

Unless you want to lose all of your customers, and go out of business, and
take the chance of getting sued by one of your business clients because your
lack of service costs them money. Get something else. Try it. If it works,
so
much the better.

>From everything I'm hearing, SB had great gear prior to the change in the
Atmel chipset and the production line changes. For whatever reason some of
the quality has changed, and for those WISPs that are hanging on by a
thread in these tough times, they can't sit and wait for a fix while the
customers
are down. MikroTik and the cards they sell seem to be the ticket, and it
would
be nice to have 2.4GHz AP and 5.8GHz backhaul in the same box. :-)

As you can see from my reasons NOT to go CB3, I am not Pro Smartbridge
for an AP, but I do find it amazing that a WISP or ISP of any kind would
rely on a device that can only do Web Interface control. Maybe I am too
big to believe that an AP at least must have two paths for management
(i.e. ethernet counts as one, terminal connection (serial) being the
other; I don't count RF since I am a bit too far away from most towers to
get to them quickly)....

Additionally, what external antenna's have been FCC certified for the CB3?

Scott
