A true
hub will retransmit ALL packets across ALL interfaces, regardless of the
type. A switch SHOULD only transmit packets to the interface that are
destined for the interface, based on the learned MAC addresses of the devices on
that interface, including broadcast traffic.
Switches are good for reducing broadcast traffic on large networks by
splitting the network up into smaller broadcast domains.
