We use IP-Cop because of problems with people on the Smoothwall team. IP-Cop started as Smoothwall and was forked. I suspect they are different now so it maybe that Smoothwall has the features you need, I don't know. There seem to be very few things that our customers can't do through IP-Cop. We have not had anyone say they are having problems which turn out to be due to IP-Cop. No one seems to need their own public IP. People have operated VPN through IP-Cop without having to seek support. Kazaa seems to work OK too which might be a shame. If they did need something special I am sure we could arrange this for a fee.

IP-Cop is perhaps not the simplest firewall, nore the most full featured. However it is Linux based with full source code and a great deal of free support from a huge user base of knowledgable people. It can be made to do anything if you know who to ask.

Could you explain in more detail what you are trying to do and why this is needed.

Wayland.

Subject: [smartBridges] Which firewall to use with SB stuff what works best.

Okay we are still looking to find either a software (linux) firewall like IP COP to allow us to protect our network since our T-1 Siemens router is crap and cant handle its own internal firewall turned on as it crashes every 5-10 min. I looked at IP cop easy install yet does not do any kind of bridge mode where I can assign the WAN a public IP as well as the LAN a public and everything on the LAN also have public IPS and pass right thru so when people go to the net lets say tot check their ip, it shows the IP assigned to them not the IP of the firewall etc..

Has anyone played with smooth wall or smoothie something like that?

Thanks.
