We used to have Aironets in outdoor enclosures. We used heat tape (same you'd use on water pipes) and it seemed to work well.

You do not need any additional heater inside our outdoor units. Our equipment has been characterized to work down to -40C and has many installations in the cold places – Iceland, Mount Everest, North Pole etc. You can view the North Pole customer story at this URL http://www.smartbridges.com/new/solutions/articles.php?id=111

Hello there...

First time posting on this list (but reading for a while).. just wondering.. what is the heater for beside the obvious.. ;)

I plan on deploying a small WISP in the province of Quebec, Canada. It can get down to -40 celcius around here sometimes... wouldn't smartbridges outdoor gear stand it? or would you suggest such things as heaters? I know smartbridges gear claims -40c minimum.. but is that claim to be trusted?

Thanks

Phil

It’s a proven solution and cheap! Some of the first WiFi radios to go outdoor used this method :-)

Gateway Electronics is a surplus house that has stuff like that at a very reasonable price.  Digikey should have them new, as well.
