The recommended upgrade path is always to provision a new zone.  It's
technically possible to upgrade existing zones but it is not
recommended nor supported as there is no way to guarantee that your
services will continue working.  You also miss out on any non-pkgsrc
changes that have been applied to newer images.

There are plenty of configuration management systems available to help
you do this, and once you have architected your systems so that they
are arbitrarily provisionable you will reap many other benefits.
