Thanks, that's a great help,
In the halted zone I removed the fs parameter via zonecfg with
# zonecfg -z <zone_uuid>
# remove fs type=lofs
# commit
etc

Hoping someone can post the syntax for removing a filesystem lofs
mounted into a zone.
From looking at the man page it looks like that is not supported by
vmadm(1m)...
THE FOLLOWING IS THEREFORE UNSUPPORTED

DANGER! DANGER!

If you want to, you can probably shut down the zone, then edit the
appropriate XML file under /etc/zones (generally /etc/zones/<uuid>)
and remove the lines that correspond to that mount.
They might look something like:
<filesystem special="/zones/backup/root/data" directory="/data"
type="lofs">
<fsoption name="ro"/>
</filesystem>
So delete just those lines but don't otherwise change the file.
Perhaps back up the file before you edit it, etc.
Then you should be able to boot the zone back up and that mount should
be gone.
Alternately, you might be able to figure out how to use zonecfg(1m) to
do that, but I haven't yet really sat down to figure out how to do it
that way. If you go that route, please reply to this post with
instructions.
THE PRECEDING INFORMATION IS UNSUPPORTED AND MAY COMPLETELY OBLITERATE
ALL YOUR SERVERS AND IT'S NO ONE'S FAULT BUT YOUR OWN
Hopefully I put enough "unsupported" warnings in this message. :)
