I would try restarting vmadmd ("svcadm restart vmadmd"). Let us know if that works.

I'm running SmartOS (joyent_20150417T032339Z) under Vmware Player 11 and have resumed it while on a new network with a different IP range and subnet.

I have one NIC assigned to SmartOS: e1000g0 (dhcp)
I have an etherstub created: elk0
I have a vm created to use the nic_tag: elk0

Upon restoring SmartOS back out of its suspended state and requesting a new IP from the dhcp server for e1000g0, the IP is now different from the VM's VNC "host" IP.

Without restarting the VM, I would like to update the VM's nic/vnc IP/host to be assigned to one which will be routable from the new network

Is that possible?
