Hi Steve, For modern images (2014Q4 or later) you can simply install cfengine 3.6.5 via pkgin. This version is compiled using SmartOS normalized paths. If you want a more "traditional" (i.e., everything in /var/cfengine) cfengine you can use my builds:
pkg_add
https://us-east.manta.joyent.com/bbennett/public/packages/lmdb-0.9.11elf1.tgz
pkg_add
https://us-east.manta.joyent.com/bbennett/public/packages/cfengine-3.6.5elf1.tgz
