Google "qemu-img convert" input raw or qcow output vmdk.

It's not generally hard to do. Trickest thing is removing PV-type or vmware
tool drivers.

I've moved the same disk image from xen-server to vmware server, then
vmware esxi and then to smartos/kvm. I had to revert the last transfer back
to vmware as I had some performance issues I couldn't figure out in the
time I had allocated and I haven't had time to try it again.

Can also be a pain moving the disk images around as qemu-img will only run
on linux AFAIK.

Disk clone with a clone boot tool can also work.

If it's a simple setup may also be faster just to build an new vm.
