VMS... you mean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenVMS formerly known as VAX/VMS?!? Wow... if you consider that "one version of Linux from long long ago" you have a LOT of history to learn. As for it supporting process migration, it's possible. A lot of OS research in the mid-to-late-80s centered around making a big batch of workstation-class machines look like one big mainframe. Look up Sprite, V, and Amoeba, for example. Process migration between nodes was one of the Hard Problems (TM) those systems had to contend with. I wouldn't be surprised if DEC did their own such experiments with VMS.
