I have to echo that.  Please talk about Chef on SmartOS more.  We use
it extensively at work and would like to see more adoption of it.

I currently use a custom bootstrap template (with knife bootstrap
- - --distro) to achieve this, but a genuine Omnibus installer would be
much cleaner especially in the presence of other Ruby installs on the
system.
