You can edit the grub menu on the USB key after imaging it. For example, I add the SDC Firmware Diagnostics and Update Mode (FDUM) sdcboot code to my usbkeys as a standard practice: https://github.com/AlainODea/sdcboot/blob/ExampleUsageDocumentation/README.md
