All,

FYI - and for the record: When I started using SmartOS the stock bge driver
didn't work with the builtin BCM5720 NICs in our HP Gen 8 Microservers with
messages: "bge_chip_poll_engine failed". I was able to integrate the Broadcom
Solaris driver source into my platform build and the buitin NICs worked.

Just today I decided to update my SmartOS version from joyent_20140508T130949Z
to joyent_20141112T164658Z. Instead of applying my patches I also decided to
give the stock driver a second chance - guess what: Works great!!! Seems like
the Aug 12 commit "5042 stop using deprecated atomic functions" made all the
difference!

Although I performed only limited testing with that new platform version it
seems fair to say that the BCM5720 can be counted as supported!

Marvelous!!! Thanks everyone involved!!!

Peter
