Hi Sam It would probably be worth checking what the ‘default’ route is for your global zone. You can do this with ‘netstat -rn’ and you should see a ‘default’ entry under destination. That will be where the global zone will direct its traffic.
That being said, you should be able to create a zone/KVM, attach it’s NIC onto the ‘external’ nic tag, give it an IP and have it work. At first glance I would think the confusion is limited to the global zone as it has access to both admin and external - and since both have a gateway, the global zone is just using the first NIC in the list, which is probably admin.
