Hello, while evaluating localepurge on the Openmoko FreeRunner [1], I discovered that localepurge depends on locales, which requires quite a lot of space: ===== debian-gta02:~# apt-get install localepurge [...] The following NEW packages will be installed: localepurge locales 0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 4529kB of archives. After this operation, 12.2MB of additional disk space will be used. [...] [locale set to en_US.UTF-8] [...] debian-gta02:~# ===== On embedded devices like the Openmoko FreeRunner, every single MB counts. This is why it would be good to have a minimal locales-base package localepurge can depend on. FYI, I have not checked why localepurge needs locales. Thx, bye, Gismo / Luca Footnotes: [1] http://wiki.debian.org/DebianOnFreeRunner?action=diff&rev2=90&rev1=89 -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: armel (armv4tl) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-20081103.git7172ec57 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages locales depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 [glibc-2.7-1] 2.7-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries locales recommends no packages. locales suggests no packages. -- debconf information: locales/locales_to_be_generated: locales/default_environment_locale: None _______________________________________________ Smartphones-userland mailing list Smartphones-userland@linuxtogo.org http://lists.linuxtogo.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/smartphones-userland
