I think I see the problem with fping taking so long. It does not seem to be multithreaded so a host not responding holds up the entire process.
Am I correct? Anyone know of another solution. A) I use LDAP for user,group,shadow lookups and for some reason the only application that has issues is the smokeping web interface. B) The other problem is with fping taking too long to poll. I have attempted to tweak the settings to allow fping to return in a timely manner but with no avail. The server that is running smokeping has no problems with memory or CPU but fping takes more than 60 seconds to send 5 pings to 600 targets. I have the hostinterval set to 0.01 and the timeout set to 0.300.
