To bee honest, I tackled this by just recreating everything from scratch. I had different old BSD’s together different versions version of smokeping. Reinstalling a system that is just build for one purpose (smokeping ) is easy. Giving you back a clean slate. In theory upgrading should be easy though. In BSD pkg upgrade should be enough. But before invoking that… Do you have a backup? ☺

Smokeping versions should be the same between master and slaves to avoid bizar issues. Make sure you get to that stage first before starting this conversion.
