Its Ok that you find the PDUs different. Once you define the SMSC yourself, this goes into the PDU, that's why you see differences.
Do you get this same error even if you send a 4-letter message? Last catch is to try and upgrade to the latest version. You are using an old one, maybe it has some relevant fixes that skip my mind right now.
