Make sure you get 3G network instead of 2G, typical 2G is 6s/msg, 3G you can get 1-3s/msg, it depends on the various things: 1. BTS load 2. Network Load 3. SMSC load, etc Some telco operator moderates their smsc, so even there is no bottleneck in network, but you will get moderated speed on smsc.
If you use CDMA/EVDO you can boost the speed by make call to other party together with sending sms.
