What you describe is right but...

SMSServer is kind of closed app. Why don't you create your own little 
application? Your task seems easy, just periodically call ReadMessages() 
and save the data.

Then again, a "high performance" is something like a dream... Remember that 
the modem's receive rate is limited. So, whatever you do, even if you 
completely mess up your code and your solution (which, of course, I don't 
think you would - you already have a pretty good knowledge of SMSServer's 
internals :) ), the modem's receive rate will still be the *weak link* in 
your solution.
