This would be a nice feature.

I yet do what you wrote but my use case is different; follow me:

1. I put sms in the queue to smslib and I update the status on the db to 
Queued
2. at some point there is a power loss; so the dequeue handler is not called
3. at restart I should re-queue all sms that are still in the status Queued 
in the db
4. I need a way to understand if I the sms I'm trying to put in the 
smslib'queue is yet in the queue or not
