Well, I have to disagree, as personally I've enjoyed listening to Beethoven on 
CD.  Or maybe you just don't like Beethoven :-)

And of course 10 years after that making statement, Linn introduced their own 
CD player!

Anyway, this kind of off-topic rambling is the tedious stuff that no doubt 
fills MB of forum pages on HiFi dedicated CD/Analogue web sites. Rather like 
the Digital/Film camera doodah and is the kind of reason why I stopped buying 
HiFi mags so I better stop right here.
