Hi Andrew

In iTunes on the iMac, plug the iPod Nano in, then select it in iTunes. Untick 
the "automatically sync iPod" box and click Apply. That should stop it from 
syncing to every Mac you plug it into. It would always give you a warning 
before removing any data and re-syncing though.
