Yes, give up! Set an alarm daily as the problem seems to be with recurrent
alarms.  Happened in the Antipodes a few weeks back, apparently fixed in the
forthcoming iOS 4.2.

>From what I've read, the Clock app uses the calendar app for recurrent
alarms and there is/may be some problem with server-side interpretation of
timings.
