Connect as network by firewire (or wirelessly), but I would have thought you might already have done this. Allow sharing in the Preferences of MacBookPro and iBook, then it is a simple drag & drop between folders within iPhoto on your desktop Mac.
In your case a Command A (Select all) will come in handy.
