We use Western Digital and they've been OK. We've given them masses of abuse as we've either been in a motorhome or travelling in Asia, now south america. We've had them two years and no bother apart from one we bought in the first place didn't work from the off. They are looking a wee bit tatty now too. One bug bear is that when you have given them some 'stick' the connection to the hard drive can become a wee bit dodgy and you have to wiggle it then back away very slowly whilst they transfer. Not the best in a moving van.
The winner, hands down, on the wear and tear front, if not as nice looking, is the iOmega ego we have. It does all the daily work and we use the WD's to back it up. It's been dropped countless times. It's my partners and she's worse than me with looking after tech stuff - we've gone through loads. It's been permanently affixed to her rapidly failing mac book, dragged everywhere and it's never skipped a beat. This is the closest I could find to it. Ours is over a year old now and the stickers don't look the same. http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=384588&CatId=3092 All the best, Michael Michael Dennis www.fanchants.com Twitter: www.twitter.com/fanchants Facebook: www.facebook.com/fanchants On 20 Jul 2011, at 09:26, Chris Webb wrote: > Martin, general rule of thumb is to assume that a hard drive will fail.
