Thank you for problem 1 the suggeted cures did not work and when I put a blank cd into the dive I end up with untitled cd 1 and 2 both with the radiation loge. CD1 ignores me but cd2 goes if I burn the disc. Any other ideas? Problem 2 It is interesting that you don't use timemachine.I have never been sure about it and have never needed it.Although I did adde a disc for the facility but have never used it for real. All my data is backup independently.to DVD. All lot of discs so I only backup really important data, imprtant defined as I cannot repeat the data. What do you use. To anser your question both discs are 1!tb the time machine is not used for anything else I do use and need parallels. I have copied the contents of the timemachine disc to the trash and emptied the trash. I have turned off timemachine and renamed rhe disc. It now appears as a device. It does seem a longwinded way of recovery a disc for use

That represents some files waiting to be burned to a blank cd or dvd. Lion handles these a bit differently now, but from memory you can just drag the "untitled cd" folder off the finder window to the left and let go, it should disappear in a puff of smoke and thats it gone. It should only contain aliases to files waiting to be burned, not the actual files themselves. Alternatively you could pop a blank cd or dvd in the drive and press the radiation button to burn the disc, once its finished it shouldnt be in finder anymore. Time Machine backups can be a bit more tricky and I havent actively used time machine in a while now. Time machine kind of does its thing automatically, which should include older items disappearing out of the back to make room for newer backups at the front... Some more information would be helpful. Are you also using the hard drive to store other files on as well as the backup? Is your main internal hard drive greater than or equal to 1Tb? do you run any of the "usual suspect" programs that can fill up time machine really quickly? - Microsoft Entourage, Parallels/VMWare or other windows virtualisation programs? If so excuding their data files would be a good start... On 29 January 2012 07:39, Brian Terry <brian_te...@blueyonder.co.uk> wrote: Two problems I have a terabyte disc that I use as backup.
