You should be able to safely carry on using your DG834G... You could just
use the Airport Extreme as a wireless access point and leave the
DHCP/DNS/routing to the DG834G, or you could put it in bridge mode and
devolve those tasks to the Airport Extreme... You could buy something like
a Draytek Vigor 120 but it's not really necessary...
