I reckon you're right.

I've swapped an iPhone 4 (my phone) from Tesco/O2 to 3 in the past, and an iPhone 3GS (wife's emergency PAYG phone) from O2 to 3 recently. As long as the phone's unlocked, its a straightforward SIM swap. We did come across an oddity on the 3GS, possibly to do with the provider network or maybe because it was a PAYG SIM. All the phone/text side worked fine but Internet access (and access to 3's own App) wouldn't work when the phone was on 3G (or away from wifi). It all worked perfectly when running on wifi. In the end, 3 solved the problem by getting me to do a network reset (Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings) and then it all worked fine.

I'm about to leave O2 for Giffgaff.

Am I right in thinking I don't have to worry about any info stored on the phone's SIM? That as long as I've backed everything up via iTunes before I make the switch, that's all I need to do?
