I have one of the old battery powered models. The thing suffers when the lens 
gets grubby so a bit of isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud work wonders. 
Otherwise, in your case, if a bit of fluff has got into the charge port, this 
can cause it to not charge. Worth a look.

I get a lot of ideas and help by being a member of smug, not the least from 
Sam. I just want to wish you all the best of health and raise a virtual glass
