Hi Smuggers,
I've had a lot of powerline adaptors over the years and they rarely last
more than about 15 months before they stop working (I gather this is
usually a transistor) so I thought this time I would instead get a
decent router to use as a wireless extnder instead. I probably should
have asked here first for recommendations (!) but looked at a lot of
reviews instead and I got the ASUS RT-AX56U.
After five hours of swearing at it and resetting it I finally got it to
actually work (in the technical sense) by bypassing the automatic
web-based set up but it's giving a trickle. The Virgin Hub gives 112
Mbps over wireless but the network from the Asus gives 0.03 (when it
doesn't time out with an error).
Either the Virgin hub is unhappy about sharing its connection or the
router is somehow faulty and I'm not sure how to tell. any suggestions
before I box it up and send it back, and order yet another doomed
Powerline (seems a horrible waste of plastic...)?
Cheers,
J
