There wont be an increase in security, WPA2 is still in use, but I can highly 
recommend UniFi access points. 

I had 4 in my previous house, connected and powered via Ethernet (a single 
small UniFi PoE switch powered all 4) along with a controller to provide 
configuration. My ex-wife was able to walk from one end of the house to the 
other on a Skype call with no drop in signal.

It all depends what budget is available though. Cheaper access points like TP 
Link never work as well.

Extreme/Time Capsule plugged in to produce wi fi. What would replace these and
