Hound's ears are nearly a foot

LONDON -- A Bassett hound in England with a famous grandfather has lived up to the family tradition, setting a world record for the longest ears, the BBC said Thursday. Mr. Jeffries' ears measure an unbeaten 11.49 inches, the Guinness Book of World Records said. Owner Phil Jeffries of West Sussex said the sad-looking dog often trips over his own ears, stands on them and drags them through his food. Being record-holders, the floppy ears are insured for $50,000, his master added. Mr. Jeffries, whose full name is Knightsfollie Ladiesman, is the grandson of Biggles, whose face remains the trademark of Hush Puppies shoes. Biggles passed away last year.
