you tell it which modem to use. Actually you'd just adjust the

The modem is the thing that the phone
plugs in too....:) That's how you tell it!
As for the kind, you really just need
to know what kind of slot it was in , or what you have free. If you
have a USB port you can get an external one that will work fairly well and
you won't even have to crack the case.
