Compulsive Text Messaging Increasing

A London detox center that treats the rich and famous for alcohol and drug addictions, says it also is treating increasing numbers for compulsive text messaging on cell phones. "We've really noticed it in the past 18 months. There has been a big rise in the number of behavioral addictions, and many involve texting," says Dr. Mark Collins, head of the addictions unit at the Priory. Some patients spend up to seven hours a day texting and one developed repetitive strain injury because he spent so much time keying in phone messages, according to Collins. Compulsive texting is part of a wider trend of "addiction to technology," reports the London Telegraph.
