| DOPE-smoking men are hitting their chances of
becoming dads because the drug harms sperm, scientists said yesterday.
Regular users also produce significantly less semen than men who do not take the drug. Sperm from pot smokers often fail to fertilise an egg because they “burn out” on the journey. Dr Lani Burkman, who headed tests for Buffalo University medical school, New York State, said: “Sperm from marijuana smokers were moving too fast, too early. The timing was all wrong. “These sperm would experience burn-out before they reach the egg and would not be capable of fertilisation.” Researchers compared 22 men who had smoked cannabis regularly for five years with 59 non-users who had fathered children. | ||
