No Hope in Georgia

Georgia Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue is a racist for pushing to tie state scholarship money to SAT scores, reports the Atlanta Constitution.

Black lawmakers in Georgia said Perdue’s suggestion to let test results help determine HOPE scholarship eligibility was “shameful” and called him the most racially divisive governor since Lester Maddox.

"He does not believe that Georgia is a place for all people," said Sen. Vincent Fort.

The legislators called the SAT proposal the latest in a litany of racist policies. Among the other examples were his support for changes in predatory lending laws, his push to allow a referendum on the state flag and some personnel decisions involving African-Americans.
