J-Lo Signs to Produce Talk Show

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Actress, singer and media monolith Jennifer Lopez has reached an agreement with Universal Television to produce a one-hour first-run talk show through her Nuyorican production banner. The series will aim to launch in the fall of 2004.

Nuyorican's Julio Caro will join in the producing duties on the daily show, which will feature an ensemble of female hosts lead by Lydia Lopez, a television and radio host. The show will skew toward younger women and will focus on pop culture, news, lifestyle, celebrities, beauty and fashion.

"This show will be a natural extension of the dynamic brand created by Jennifer Lopez," says Lisa Hackner, Universal Television's executive vice president of programming and development. "It will convey the same sense of enthusiasm, humor, determination and smarts that took Jennifer to the top of the entertainment world."

While the show will certainly have a celebrity component, there's no word on how frequently the former Mrs. Chris Judd will make on-camera appearances, though she promises to be hands on behind the scenes.

"At Nuyorican, our goal from the onset was to produce good, quality material that would appeal to a broad audience," Lopez says. "A talk show hosted by a group of smart women with diverse opinions and varied interests is tremendously exciting.

"We are going to have a lot of fun," she promises.
