Transsexuals in Australia have filed a complaint against organizers of a lesbian festival there because the event was advertised for “female-born” lesbians only and therefore discriminatory, reports the Australian AP.
Organizers of Lesfest 2004 had obtained an exemption from equal opportunity laws that would have allowed them to exclude boys over eight and non-lesbian girls over 15.
"It's not about excluding, it's about affirmation of our identity," said LesFest spokeswoman Anna Holland-Moore said.
But members of the Australian WOMAN Network, a transsexual lobby group, complained to a local tribunal, calling the "female-born" restrictions offensive.
