Bombs Found In Potato Chip Factory
An Oregon potato chip factory found two small bombs in a shipment of potatoes. Kettle Foods workers near Portland spotted two 3-pound cylindrically shaped bombs, 8 inches long and 3 inches wide with fins on one end. The bomb squad was called and it was determined that the two devices were expended pieces of military ordnance, the Portland Statesman Journal reports. The potato farm where the potatoes were harvested is located on a former practice range for bombers, according to officials. The bombs contain a pyrotechnic charge designed to create a flash to show bombardiers-in-training where their projectile landed, the Journal says.
