Punkin' Chunkin'

The sport of punkin' chunkin' is flinging pumpkins by a specially built gun and blasting them into an orange fog. In Michigan, there's a contest to see who can shoot a pumpkin weighing 7 to 10 pounds the farthest. Bruce Bradford, president S&G Erectors in Howell, Mich., designed such a "pumpkin gun," which uses compressed air, weighs 18,000 pounds and has a 100-foot long barrel, reports the Daily Oakland Press. Last year Bradford won the Punkin' Chunkin' World Championships in Sussex County, Del., for flinging a pumpkin 4,594 feet.
