Saturn Wins Land Speed Record

An Ion Red Line Saturn is the new land speed record holder for small cars. The seemingly simple coupe had an average speed of 212 miles per hour at Utah's world-famous Bonneville Salt Flats that stretch over 30,000 acres of barren land. The record-setting run was set up to demonstrate the small cars' capabilities in extreme conditions, General Motors says in a statement. The Ion Red Line is part of Saturn's effort to put high-end, high-performance, four-cylinder performance packages into small passenger cars.
