LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - This fall, FOX made a drama with a teen sex subplot ("Skin") and it was crushed by The WB's more wholesome teenagers on "7th Heaven" and "Everwood." Figuring that if you can't beat them, you'd better give them a script commitment, FOX has enlisted "7th Heaven" creator Brenda Hampton and executive-turned-producer Susanne Daniels for a series focused on teen sexuality.
The untitled drama is one of many possibilities that FOX is developing to provide teen soap "The O.C." with a compatible primetime partner. As head of primetime series at The WB, Daniels recruited Hampton for "7th Heaven" and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the duo has wanted to worth together since Daniels became a solo producer in 2001. Hampton proposed her new idea to Daniels in the form of a rather simple logline: "the sex lives of American teens." "We're going to break down all the barriers about teens and sex," says Hampton, who is scripting the pilot. "We're going to talk about sex every week -- those who do, those who don't, the consequences, the complications, why they make the choices that they do and who influences them -- without seeing gratuitous sex." In other words, Hampton is hoping for the kind of honesty achieved by the Canadian "Degrassi Junior High" series and its spin-offs. Hampton's credits before creating "7th Heaven" include stints on "The John Larroquette Show" and "Blossom" and a writer-producer gig on "Mad About You." ________________________________ Changes to your subscription (unsubs, nomail, digest) can be made by going to http://sandboxmail.net/mailman/listinfo/sndbox_sandboxmail.net
