Julian Bond Agrees Condi Rice Is 'a Murderer'
NAACP Chairman Julian Bond said over the weekend that he agreed
with political cartoonist Aaron McGruder's characterization of National Security
Advisor Condoleezza Rice as "a murderer."
Appearing with Bond on the television show "America's Black Forum," McGruder,
whose cartoon strip "The Boondocks" has portrayed Rice as a spinster who takes
out her personal frustrations by launching carpet-bombing attacks on Iraq,
explained his disdain for the highest-ranking woman in U.S. government.
"I don't like Condoleezza Rice because she's part of this oil cabal that's
now in the White House," McGruder said, as ABF hosts Armstrong Williams and Juan
Williams looked on.
"I don't like her because she's a murderer," the cartoonist announced.
The charged drew immediate condemnation from Armstrong Williams, who
complained, "That is totally out of line to say she's a murderer."
Unfazed, McGruder repeated the accusation, stretching out his words,
"S-h-e'-s a m-u-r-d-e-r-e-r."
"Let's put aside the fact that she's affiliated with oil companies that
murder people in Nigeria," the cartoonist said. "We can discuss just this
illegal Iraq war, the slaughtering of innocent people and the fact that she's
one of the big hawks of the administration.
"I don't see where this is even a point of contention," he insisted.
At that point cohost Juan Williams asked Mr. Bond if he supported McGruder's
contention.
"I generally agree with his politics 100 percent and I think he explained
himself well," the NAACP chief said.
A tape of the largely unnoticed exchange was re-broadcast Wednesday by
nationally syndicated radio host Sean Hannity.
