LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - In a switch from the debate surrounding the Showtime movie "The Reagans" thus far, a group of pundits will gather to discuss the film after actually having seen it.

Showtime will air the panel discussion, called "Controversy: 'The Reagans'" and moderated by former CNN correspondent Frank Sesno, live at 9 p.m. ET Monday, Dec. 1 -- the day after the movie airs. The network says the panel, which includes people who worked in the Reagan White House, one of the former president's biographers and others, "will speak to the polarizing issues surrounding the film, as well as discuss the politics of the Reagan legacy."

"The Reagans" ended up at Showtime after Viacom sibling CBS opted not to air it, citing concerns over its portrayal of Ronald and Nancy Reagan (played by James Brolin and Judy Davis). The network's decision came after heavy protests from the Republican National Committee and numerous conservative groups, although CBS CEO Leslie Moonves said the outside pressure didn't force his hand.

The protests were based largely on leaked copies of the script and a New York Times story detailing some of the movie's more controversial elements.

In addition to Sesno, Showtime's panel will feature Martin Anderson, a former domestic and economic policy adviser in the Reagan administration; Marvin Kalb, a senior fellow at Harvard's Shorenstein Center for the Press, Politics and Public Policy; Carl Sferazza Anthony, whose book "First Ladies" was used as source material for "The Reagans'" script; columnist and Fox News commentator Linda Chavez; and Reagan biographer Lou Cannon.

Showtime will also offer a live streaming-video feed of the special on its web site, www.sho.com.
