Right, an
official from the Vatican. (Or to put it another way, a spokesman for the
Pope) Statements from the Vatican do indicate the “Catholic Church” because
all policy flows from the Vatican down to the local church. So a statement
from them, is speaking for the church.

The way *I* heard it.... "an official" from the Catholic church
condemed the treatment of Saddam.
I don't think that is the same as "The Catholic Church" condemning
it. Sean Hannity, who is
Catholic, sure did not agree last night, or his Catholic guest he had on.
A man of Saddam's age getting a physical in the US would have a lot more than
his mouth and
beard probed..... <G> I wonder if the Vatican will have the same opinion
on radical Arab
terrorists after the take their first major terrorist attack in the near
future? They seem out of touch.
