Subject: [sniffer] Running sniffer as a service

If you don't want to install the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit you
can use XYNTService (no installation or reboot required):

1. Download XYNTService (the homepage is here:
http://www.codeproject.com/system/xyntservice.asp but you have to
register to download it. If you prefer, its quicker and easier just to
Google for it or download it here:
http://www.netcam-watcher.com/runserv.zip)

2. Extract the XYNTService.exe and XYNTService.ini files and place them
in a folder on your IMail server.

3. Open the XYNTService.ini file in notepad and modify it to read:

[Settings]
ServiceName = SnifferService
ProcCount = 1
CheckProcess = 30
[Process0]
CommandLine = C:\IMail\Declude\Sniffer\<licenseid>.exe <authentication>
persistent
WorkingDir = C:\IMail\Declude\Sniffer\
PauseStart = 1000
PauseEnd = 1000
UserInterface = No
Restart = Yes

4. Note: Change the sniffer path above according to your specific
installation.

5. Save and close the XYNTService.ini file.

6. Open a command prompt, navigate to the folder containing
XYNTService.exe and type: XYNTService.exe -i

7. Next, type services.msc to open the Services management console.

8. Scroll down to the newly created "SnifferService" service, make sure
the startup type is "Automatic", and then right click the service and
select "Start".

9. You now have sniffer running automatically as a service.

10. Note: If you want to later uninstall the service, run the following
at the command prompt: XYNTService.exe -u
