In fairness to the people posting the unsubscribe messages, let me note
that basic distinction between mail headers and mail bodies is that the
former
are intended for processing by POP3 clients and SMTP servers (and developers
and
spam fighters, but not ordinary folks), while the latter are intended for
processing by humans. Putting subscription/unsubscription information into
headers is a particularly user-unfriendly way of distributing such
information.

I'll also gripe that with subject/body based subscription mechanisms long
established by the more common mail systems (majordomo and LISTSERV), adding
yet
another mechanism (mail addresses) seems like a gratuitous and confusing
change.
This is no doubt too difficult to change, but adding a standard trailer
containing help and subscription information to each outgoing message seems
like a perfectly reasonable request.
