I'd definitely read the soap (www.w3.org/TR/SOAP) and wsdl
(www.w3.org/TR/wsdl) specs. Takes a little time, but the effort pays off.
Once you start experimenting with web services, I'd use www.xmethods.com for
good examples. http://www.whitemesa.com/interop.htm is real useful to see
what implementations are out there and to get client code used for testing.
