The glider scenes for the Thomas Crown affair were shot in three locations,
and if you count the sound stage, four. The flying scenes used in the film
where all shot in Elmira NY at Harris Hill, except for the one scene after
the Pawnee takes off and you see the tow going along a tree lined ridge.
This snippit was filmed at Karl Streidecks private field in Julian PA( on
the ridge directly above Keystone Soaring. The scene in the cow field after
they landed was somewhere, I don't remember, in eastern upstate NY.
I was lucky enough to be at Harris Hill when they did some of the shooting.
they were there for a week.I got to see Tom put his Duo through some pretty
amazing maneuvers, unfortunatly the best ones didn't make the cut.Loop,
incredible chandelles, etc. They were at Keystone at least a week also. All
for 3 1/2 minutes of film. And I thought we wasted a lot of video filming
the Elmira event!

Subsiquent to that at the Sport Class Nationals, held imediatly after the
Elmira Aerotow event,I got ot see Heinz Weissenbueller put another Duo to
the extreme test. He did a high G "rim the bowl" maneuver around the Glider
field, which in case of the Duo Discus amounted to a screaming howling knife
edge circle. Had to be there....4-600 feet up 100+ MPH.
